Boning Li (厉博宁) is a New York–based computational and digital artist working with Houdini, procedural systems, and motion. He focuses on turning complex ideas into clear visual structures across 3D, generative imagery, and time-based work.
Currently a Houdini artist and technical generalist at VolvoxLabs in Brooklyn, he designs end-to-end workflows for installations, performances, and custom tools—moving from concept and look development to system design and delivery. Recent projects include permanent lobby pieces, civic installations, and large-format screen experiences.
Trained in Physics and Environmental Design at Tongji University and holding an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York, he works comfortably across visual design, technical implementation, and system architecture. He also develops open-source Houdini toolsets, including his MotionCOPs package, used by hundreds of Houdini artists in production and experimentation.
